Latin
name:
Sanseveria trifasciata Laurentii
Common name:
Snake Plant or Mother in Law Plant
Light requirements:
Low to Medium
Snake plants have been a staple of
the interiorscape industry since its inception back in the early
60's. Some clients tend to
shy away from utilizing Snake plants because they are so common.
They really deserve a second look. You'll find this is a beautiful
plant when one is looked at closely. Each leaf is very colorful with
both vertical and horizontal banding. Most
cultivars of Sanseveria grow columnar... usually not much wider than
its container. This makes them an excellent choice for tight, low
to medium light areas. Large
specimens are very heavy, a good candidate for common areas where
theft may be a problem. Tropical
Interiors, Inc. has Snake plants available from small 6"
containers to large 17" specimens up to five feet tall. |
